Wiggles ("we", "us", "I") looks after your pets — and that means you trust us with details about you, your animals and your home. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we keep it safe and what rights you have. We keep it plain and we keep it honest.
Who we are
Wiggles is a small, local pet-visiting service operated by Lisa Ellis. For anything to do with your information, you can reach us at hello@wiggles.co.uk. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used.
What we collect
We only ask for what we genuinely need to care for your pets and stay in touch. Typically that includes:
- Your contact details — name, email address, phone number and postcode or address, so we can reply, confirm bookings and reach you (or your emergency contact) if needed.
- Your pets' details — names, ages, breeds, feeding routines, medication, vet details and any quirks or health notes, so every visit goes the way your pets are used to.
- Home-access information — how we get in (a key, a lockbox code or an alarm code), where to find food and supplies, and any instructions for the property while you're away.
- Visit logs and photos — a short note and a photo of your pet from each visit, recording that they've been fed, walked and looked after.
- Enquiry messages — anything you send us through the contact form or by email.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we have to have a lawful reason for using your information. Ours are:
- Contract — most of what we do (arranging visits, feeding and walking your pets, logging each visit and keeping you updated) is necessary to provide the service you've booked.
- Legitimate interests — replying to enquiries, keeping simple records, and running the service safely and reliably. We only rely on this where it doesn't override your rights.
- Consent — when you tick the box on our enquiry form, or otherwise agree, for example to us contacting you about a booking. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we need to keep certain records, for example for insurance or tax.
Where your information is stored
Enquiries, booking details, visit logs and photos are stored securely using Supabase, our hosting and database provider, on servers located in the European Union. Access is protected by passwords and is limited to your sitter. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for marketing.
How we protect home-access information
We treat keys and access codes as especially sensitive. Keys are labelled with a code rather than your name or address, are kept securely, and are never left where they could identify your home. Alarm and lockbox codes are stored only where necessary to provide the service, are shared with no one else, and are removed when they're no longer needed. If you'd prefer, we're always happy to talk through the access arrangements that make you most comfortable.
Who we share it with
We keep your information to ourselves as far as possible. We only share it where it's necessary: with our hosting provider (Supabase) who stores the data on our behalf; with a vet or emergency contact if your pet needs urgent care; and where the law requires us to. Anyone acting on our behalf is required to keep your information secure.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as you're a client and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you book again or a query comes up — and no longer than we need to. Access codes and keys are returned or securely destroyed when our arrangement ends. Visit photos and notes are kept only as long as they're useful to you and us, and you can ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct anything that's wrong, to ask us to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw any consent you've given. To exercise any of these, just email hello@wiggles.co.uk and we'll sort it out. If you're ever unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
This is a working-name demonstration site, and this policy is provided as a friendly, plain-English template rather than formal legal advice. If you have any questions about your information, please get in touch — we're always happy to explain.
